Home Furniture has been serving the Midlands since 1946 as a family owned business. It has been owned by three generations of the Shealy family since 1973. 

Back in the early ‘70s, Home Furniture was a source for furniture, appliances, and even lawn mowers. Over the past 30+ years, we’ve refined our store to be a quality source of furniture, accessories and bedding.

Once upon a time, we were located way out of town in the distant town of Irmo, which was known primarily as a sleepy little town with a railroad crossing and an Okra Strut. Now, the Irmo area has become one of the key suburbs of the greater Columbia area. 

Our business has always been a family business in every sense of the word. We’re family owned and our employees are considered family and consider each other as family. We have an administrative associate that has been with the company for 30+ years! We have one sales associate that has been with our company over 20 years! We even have two warehouse/delivery personnel that have over 20 years experience with us.


FYI ... The youngest Shealy who helps manage the business, Greg Shealy, is a relative newcomer, having been with Home Furniture full-time for only 10 years ... although he remembers many more hot summers in the warehouse and on the delivery truck as a teenager.

Our goal is not to become the largest furniture store, but the best furniture store in our area. We diligently work to create the best furniture shopping experience. Our philosophy is to offer a quality product — at a competitive price— and to focus on the needs of the customer throughout the entire process of shopping/decision making, purchase and after-purchase service, should it be needed.

We don't sell 'disposable' furniture that so many of our competitors offer. Our customers appreciate traditional, real furniture, but we also offer casual furniture as well. Our customers recognize value, appreciate quality, and are looking for someone they can trust to take care of them, both now and in the future. Home Furniture is proud that it can claim a huge number of repeat customers and second generation customers who grew up with our furniture in their parents’ homes.
